My name is Irma Marshall, my husband, Butch and I purchased our first AKC purebred Siberian Husky in 1974. We became interested in Showing in conformation and obedience through Gail Hopping. Our first Husky, Shadow, was our learning dog and eventually became Ch. Blue Shadow Marshall CD. As we were showing our huskies, my in-laws, Carol and Alan Marshall decided they wanted a small dog for their townhouse, maybe a Yorkie. We took them to the Baltimore County KC show in Timonium, Maryland. It was at that show they met Joe and Donna Clas. The Yorkie breeders weren't interested in talking with them, so they purchased their first Silky, Muffin. They did not plan on showing their puppy, but we invited them to a fun Match and Muffin was a natural in the ring. Not only did Carol and Al become interested in conformation showing, they also began classes in obedience at the Canine Training Assoc. Muffin became their first champion and obedience title holder, Ch. Jazzbo's Blueberry Muffin CDX. Muffin also became their foundation bitch and as a gift for handling Muffin, I was given my first Silky. Thus starting the Al (Alan) Ca (Carol) Mar (Marshall) Silky Terrier's. Showing Silkies became a family affair. My children, Chris and Liz became Junior handlers and finished Silkies in the ring. Lizzie won the Blu-N-Tan Junior showmanship award through the Silky Terrier Club of America three times. It's been twenty years of a shared relationship, breeding, showing and raising these wonderful little dogs. My in-laws have since passed away, but their memory will live on in the lives they touched over the years and the friendships they made while showing their beloved Alcamar Silkies.
